Dr. Austin Thames is from Frederick, Maryland, where he grew up playing competitive club soccer. He went on to play collegiate soccer at Dickinson College, where he competed in 4 NCAA tournaments. While at Dickinson, Austin earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Neuroscience. After graduating from Dickinson, Austin continued his athletic career by playing semi-professional soccer for three seasons in the National Premier Soccer League. During this time, Austin also worked in a physical therapy clinic, where he continued to learn about physical therapy and discover his career goals. Through his athletic and professional experiences, Austin fostered a passion for sports rehabilitation and the powerful impact of psychology on physical healing. Austin continued pursuing his career aspirations by earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master’s of Athletic Training degrees from Shenandoah University. While earning his degrees, he gained valuable sports medicine clinical experience by working with collegiate athletes at Shenandoah University and professional athletes with the Tucson Roadrunners American Hockey League team, Tucson Sugar Skulls professional arena football team, Ballet Tucson, Tucson Rodeo, and Loudon FC USL soccer team. Austin is certified within the Functional Movement System Level 1 and Graston Technique and is a certified Wilderness First Responder. He loves to explore continuous learning opportunities and continue to build his knowledge within the physical therapy and athletic training fields. In his spare time, Austin enjoys hiking, playing soccer, playing pickleball, and spending time with his family and dog.
